Rancho Naturalista, in Costa Rica, is a birder’s paradise. This shot of a White Necked Jacobin took three flashes, a native flower picked in the cloud forest nearby and a lot of patience

Three flashes

Sue moved to SW Florida after a career in library management in Denver. A lover of nature, she discovered photography after moving to Florida. Sue also loves to travel and has been to Cuba, Hawaii, Iceland, Utah, Arizona, Peru and Colorado in the last year. Wildlife photography is her favorite and she also dabbles in street and creative photography.

Sue has won awards from several camera clubs including DPI-SIG,  Fort Myers Camera Club, Lakewood Ranch Camera Club and Photographic Society of America. She has also won awards from Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival and National Wildlife Magazine, which has included her photos in their blog and in this year’s calendar. Her photographs have appeared in eight nature calendars.

 "Glades Vista"

​One chilly February morning I came upon this scene near Punta Gorda. The colors glowed and the reflections were lovely. It was a magical day and this was just one of the first photographs taken.
